Mission, Aspiration, and Purpose

Mission

To build community among undergraduate students, living in Snyder-Philips Hall, interested in how the arts and other creative activities will transform themselves and, in turn, create a better world.

Aspiration

The Arts Living-Learning Community will be MSU’s central arts and creativity experience,  housing undergraduate students together in a living-learning environment in Snyder-Phillips Hall that promotes creativity and wellness through intentional community-building.

Purpose

The Arts Living-Learning Community integrates students into artistic communities across and beyond campus through co-curricular activities focused on socially engaged arts. It offers workshops and other programming, promotes access to the University’s extensive arts exhibitions, performances, resources, and spaces, and promotes the values of mutuality and active community engagement. Students meet and work with visiting artists, community partners, and practicing professionals across an array of disciplines. The Arts Living-Learning Community will serve as the heart of the arts at MSU over the coming years.
